Monday, Monday

Our First day of serving at the church and school was fun and productive. The men set up their plan for wiring the kitchen and then shopped for supplies and the ladies went shopping for fabric and began cutting and sewing. We ate rice and beans and meat for lunch and ate other traditional Dominican foods with the Houck family for dinner (chicken, plantains, yucca (like a potato-type root), and brownies and ice cream for dessert. (Thanks to Tracey.) :)

There are lots of pictures below. Take a peek. And if you endure, you might just see another "Dexter and Kenna love moment."

PRAYER ALERT: Continue to pray that our hearts would be soft and that we would appropriately process and communicate about the experiences we have here. Pray for energy, patience, and that God would be glorified in our work.

To help you get your bearings: This is the technical back of the church, but where everyone enters

This is the "front" from the street

We got started right away working on the plan for wiring this kitchen

This is the outside wall of the kitchen. The inside is just smoothed over with a coat of concrete.
We saw a good number of paper airplanes outside one of the school windows. ;)
A view from our vehicle as the ladies traveled to the fabric store

Choosing fabric took quite a while but it was a successful and fun experience

That little truck in the middle is an Ice Cream Truck.

Lunchtime!

The ladies got all machines set up and ready to use. Thank you for your help to purchase and bring these down here. You will see what a hit they've become!!!!

Teaching Daniel to sew. ;)

We had one gal from the community come to the church today to learn to use the machines. It was a steep learning curve for us and for her, but a fun and positive experience.
And a wolf spider in the back of the church. About the size of a 5 year old's palm.

 And last but NOT least...
And in case you need a close up...
