A New Sewing Room

We had several projects throughout the week... some of them planned prior to our trip and some of them unplanned.  The ladies of the church were hoping to have a sewing room for the times that they gather together to sew.  Up until now they had no dedicated place to store their sewing machines and sewing supplies, and they were setting up their sewing machines in the Worship Center on the days they wanted to sew.

Our team was thrilled to have enough time towards the end of the week to convert a storage room in the school to a sewing room.  We freshened up  the room with a coat of paint and built a storage cabinet for their sewing machines.

Eventually there will be sewing tables in the room and a donated ceiling fan will be put up to help keep the room cool while the women are sewing.

The storage room at the back of the school was cleaned out and turned into a sewing room for the ladies of Premera Iglesia.

Matt and Jon discuss the plans for the new storage unit Jon is going to build for the room.

The room is brightened up with some white paint on the ceiling.

Sisters having fun.

Taking a break.

Jon begins construction on the storage unit.

Brooklyn helped build the unit and had a blast.

The shelves fit perfectly.

Storage unit complete.

Six sewing machines and a few days in February teaching the ladies of Primera Iglesia how to sew may be just the beginning.  There are hopes and dreams of one day the mothers and daughters of the barrio selling their goods to others with the hopes of being able to support their families.

It may be a lofty dream but with God all things are possible.

Please pray that through this sewing ministry, families will be blessed and strengthened.  Pray that women will be given opportunities they may not otherwise have been given.  Pray that God will continue to bless this ministry and grow it into something that glorifies Him.

To God Be All the Glory.
