Love Thy Neighbor

Primera Iglecia Bautista de Central de Santiago is built on the top of a large hill.  Over the past few months the foundation of rocks, cement and mortar that support the physical building began to crack and erode away.  Rocks from the foundation fell into the neighbor's yard, damaging her home and putting both the physical church and the neighbors home in jeopardy.

Through the donations of many, including a special offering at Grace Baptist Church, the hill was secured and strengthened, avoiding what could have been a devastating situation.

Our first project of the week was to clean out the neighbor's yard.  Piles of large rocks remained in her backyard from when the retaining wall collapsed.

The larger rocks were put into wheelbarrows and hauled to the street, and the smaller rocks were tossed to those standing on the ledge and then thrown into the street.

This shows the proximity of the retaining wall to the neighbor's house.

We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves.  Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.  Romans 15:1-2
